Are you considering employing workers from overseas?

The work visa system for employing migrant workers is being radically changed, effective from 1 November 2021. If your business is seeking to hire skilled staff from overseas, you will need to become an Accredited Employer with Immigration New Zealand. We know there is a lot riding on some of your specialist roles and we are ready to help you prepare to recruit for the skills you need.

On 1 November 2021 a completely new Accredited Employer Work visa will be introduced, replacing six temporary work visas with one. For more information see the Immigration New Zealand website. To make sure you are in the best position to be accepted as an Accredited Employer, it's best to make sure your business:

is genuinely operating and is in a sound financial position to sustain employment complies with high standards of human resources policies and processes, and has good workplace practices.

New accreditation applications can be lodged from late September 2021. Detailed business information will be required, especially if you want to have more than five migrant workers - so it is best to start getting ready now so that your business can prepare to lodge its application promptly. While Immigration New Zealand processing will take time, the best chance to obtain early accreditation and to be able to hire migrant staff after 1 November, is to apply early.

Whether you prefer our step by step help, or for us to work interactively with your own in-house team, we can help you make sure you have the best chance of securing the accreditation you need. We'd love to hear from you.
