Taihākurei (Tai) Durie is a Solicitor based in Wellington
Tai focuses on commercial, property and employment law. He is fluent in Te Reo Māori, having learnt at Te Herenga Waka - Victoria University of Wellington and Te Wānanga o Aotearoa. Tai’s passions are to continuously develop his skills in the pursuit of excellence across both Te Ao Māori and his everyday legal practice.
Prior to joining Gibson Sheat, Tai gained valuable experience in both the public and private sectors. He worked in a Lower Hutt private law firm, where he represented clients across a range of matters before the Waitangi Tribunal. As an in-house lawyer at the Ministry of Housing and Urban Development, he focused on commercial and property matters.
Tai can help you with:
- Commercial legal matters including business sales and purchases, company structure documentation and agreements relating to commercial activities
- Property legal matters including commercial leasing, co-location agreements and acquisitions / disposals
- Employment agreements, restructures and resolution of disputes, from investigations through to the Employment Court
- Assisting Māori businesses with legal matters.
Tai enjoys a range of sports, both playing and watching basketball, rugby, rugby league, and tennis. He is also a dedicated gym goer, and tries to make it back to his marae in Palmerston North as much as he can to help out.
